Friedkin Conservation Fund (FCF) was established for the purpose of conserving more than 6.1 million
acres of Tanzania's protected areas. Legendary Adventures is an active contributor to FCF's anti-poaching
training and enforcement, community development, and research and development projects. All of these
initiatives are working together toward establishing effective wildlife management for a
long-term sustainable future for the Tanzanian adventure.

FCF’s Mission

FCF provides proactive assistance to the Tanzanian Government and people, engaging rural communities in the conservation of their natural heritage and empowering them to alleviate conditions that contribute to poverty. It also monitors and facilitates initiatives contributing to the sustainable utilization of natural resources.

Getting to Tanzania
The preferred airport is Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). It is serviced daily by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines from Amsterdam. It is a one hour drive away from the outfitters’ base offices in Arusha. If you arrive in Dar es Salaam (DAR) or Nairobi (NBO), there will be additional charters required as well as charges for firearms clearing and ground transfers.
Immunizations
Please contact your personal physician or local immunization clinic for the required immunizations for your overseas journey. Yellow fever vaccination is recommended. Prophylactic medication for malaria is also recommended. Please contact the Center for Disease Control (CDC) at 404-639-3534 for more information or visit http://wwwn.cdc.gov.
Medical Evacuation Insurance
Medical emergency evacuation coverage is recommended and is included on your safari invoice. Our preferred provider is MEDJET ASSISTANCE. For more information please contact us directly or visit www.medjetassistance.com. Please communicate any medical requirements or accommodations with staff upon booking your safari.
Climate
Average daytime temperatures will be in the 70’s to 90’s Fahrenheit (20° to 30° centigrade) with cooler temperatures in the early mornings and late evenings. Tanzania has two rainy seasons. The long rains generally occur between late March and early June, and the short rains in November and December. Possibility of thunderstorms and rain showers through January and February.
Currency
There are no currency exchange controls in Tanzania. Foreign currency is accepted at many locations. The preferred currency is U.S. dollars (cash) or traveler’s checks. Only notes made after 2003 are accepted in Tanzania.
Communications
All camps are provided with a powerful short-wave radio and satellite telephones. Satellite phones are available for personal use upon request. Satellite telephone use is billed to your account at the end of your safari. Internet and email is also available upon request. Use is billed to your account at the end of your safari.
Camera & Photography
A digital camera with a minimum of 300mm telephoto-zoom capabilities is recommended. Nowadays, hybrid digital SLR/Compact cameras are readily available in the 35 – 400mm equivalent range. Electricity
Power: 220 V. Most small electronics will work well with a prong adapter. Please consult the device user manual. Our camps run on a generator and inverter system to supply continuous electricity.
Luggage
The luggage weight limit for in-country, private flights is 44 lbs (20 kgs). The luggage weight limit for in-country, charter flights is 30 lbs (15 kgs). We recommend using soft duffle bags for luggage to reduce the weight consumed by the luggage material and construction.
